In most situations, the virus scanning software is configured to perform “real-time” scans of all file writes.
This default configuration can cause severe consequences when used in conjunction with CygNet services. Since the services can be setup to perform very high-transaction database and file writes to your system’s hard-drive, the virus scanner’s real-time scan can create a "backlog" of activity. This backlog of scanning can cause 1) extremely poor performance; 2) failure of specific tasks, such as demand scans; and 3) failure of service processes on a computer with CygNet services installed. These problems are directly related to the inability of the virus scanner to keep up with the high throughput of the CygNet software services.
If you have real-time scanning enabled, we recommend that you exclude the CygNet\Services folder and subfolders and the CygNetCache folder (this is a folder in the Temp folder). You may use normal scheduled virus scans of these folders, but do not configure them for real-time scans.
